I can make up words

I often experience a feeling of awe when witnessing the true breadth of human creativity, skill, and ingenuity. As far as I know, there isn’t a word to describe this feeling. Naturally, I decided to make one.

I went with the Greek roots: “anthro” for human, and “thymia” meaning a soulful feeling or spirited emotion. There were other words that came close — awe, kama muta, Sinnesrausch, Stendhal Syndrome — but none of them quite captured the specific feeling I was going for.

What I wanted was a word for the emotional resonance with the collective genius of people.

So, here it is:

Anthrothymia (noun)
The swelling of emotion you feel when witnessing the vast, beautiful variety of human creativity, skill, and expression.
